The Office of the Vice President (OVP) said it will support the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2023.

To help prepare schools for the opening of classes this school year, the activity will be done through the 10 OVP Satellite Offices in Dagupan, Isabela, Region V, Cebu, Bacolod, Tacloban, Davao, Surigao, Zamboanga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

On August 14, the OVP will be participating in the Brigada Eskwela in East Central Integrated School in Dagupan, Cauayan South Central School in Isabela, Gogon Central Elementary School in Legazpi, Labagon Elementary School in Cebu, St. Francis Elementary School in Tacloban, Victoria Elementary School in Surigao, and Salum Elementary School in Zamboanga.

The Satellite Office in Davao will assist with preparations at the Governor Vicente Duterte National High School on August 15, while the OVP BARMM will extend help at the Barangay Pagalamatan Elementary School on August 17.

Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide school maintenance program that engages all education stakeholders to contribute their time, effort, and resources in ensuring that public schools are all set in time for class opening.

During the Brigada Eskwela Kick-off in Tarlac last August 7, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte cited DepEd Order No. 21 s. 2023, or the Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines, on how it can pave the way for a brighter and more resilient start for Filipino learners.

“Brigada Eskwela is an appeal to the Bayanihan spirit of every Filipino to help prepare our schools for the opening of classes,” Duterte said.

“It is (to) make our schools functional, clean, and orderly inside and outside the classrooms and within the school sides,” she added.

Acknowledging the importance of protecting the environment for future generations, the OVP will conduct a tree-planting activity with selected schools nationwide.

This year, the multi-pronged Pagbabago: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign was launched by OVP across the country.

The upcoming tree planting activity is in time for the observation of National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day this year.

The first leg of the simultaneous tree-planting activity will be done during the celebration of National Teachers’ Day on September 5.

The second leg of tree planting will be conducted during the celebration of World Teacher’s Day on October 5. (OVP MEDIA) — (✓)
