COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government has partnered once more with the Local Government Academy to train another batch of Bangsamoro Local Government Operations Officers through the LGOO Apprenticeship Program, which began yesterday, August 28, 2023, and will end on September 4, 2023, at the Em Manor Hotel and Convention Center in Cotabato City.

During the program’s preliminary activity, Acting Director of Administration and Finance Services Ahmed-Arqhan A. Ali urged trainees to be motivated, devoted, and persistent in order to successfully finish the LGOO Apprenticeship Program.
MILG Director General Eng’r Khalid S. Dumagay’s inspirational message, in which he discussed how hectic the MILG recruitment process is, and how MILG hires not just people, but also personal integrity, intelligence, and personal measures to contribute to the community or the Bangsamoro as a whole. He also believed that a great leader is committed to making a difference.
Fausiah K. Romancap-Abdula, Director of Operations Management Services, provided an overview of the activity as part of the General Orientation for the LGOO Apprenticeship Program. She stressed the significance of the ministry having a workforce that can meet the requirements and needs of its clientele, the local government units.
Following the preparatory activities, Dr. Mansoor L. Limba, the first resource speaker, began his extremely comprehensive yet engaging presentation for Module 1: The BARMM and Moral Governance.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.
According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
