Malacañang Suspends Gov’t Work, Public Classes due to Inclement Weather in Metro Manila

Malacañang has ordered the suspension of classes and work in all government offices in Metro Manila this afternoon (August 31) due to inclement weather condition brought about by the Southwest Monsoon and Super typhoons “Goring” and “Hanna”.

“Upon recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in view of the continuous rainfall brought about by the Southwest Monsoon, and Super typhoons “Goring” and “Hanna,” work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region are hereby suspended on 31 August 2023, effective 3 p.m.,” the issued memorandum circular read.

However, the Palace clarified that government agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.

On the other hand, suspension of work for private companies and classes in private schools shall be at the discretion of their respective heads. (PND) — (/)
