(SDN) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has entrusted another significant job to Secretary Suharto Tan Mangudadatu, Ph.D., director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Aside from being the head of TESDA, the President named Mangudadatu, former multiple times governor of Sultan Kudarat, the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) covering the National Capital Region (NCR).

This was learned from a news release the TESDA Public Information and Assistance Division (PIAD) sent to SDN — SciTech and Digital News.

The TESDA chief replaced the late Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople who succumbed on August 22 to a lingering illness.

As CORDS, Mangudadatu’s assignment is to lead the Joint Regional Task Force (JRTF)-ELCAC NCR to oversee the peace and development efforts in the region.

“His duty is to facilitate the management of the whole-of-nation approach and whole-of-government participation, and champion good governance in order to attain inclusive and sustainable peace,” the TESDA-PIAD statement noted.

Aside from that, Mangudadatu “is also tasked to assist in articulating the region’s concerns and issues with the Office of the President (OP), the Cabinet, other departments, and other government agencies and preside over joint meetings of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) and the Regional Development Council (RDC) to harmonize peace, security and development efforts in NCR”.

Mangudadatu urges working together for Filipinos

He embraced his new job as he welcomed his work with the JRTF-ELCAC, giving him an opportunity to drive home what TESDA has been offering.

“I am glad to be working with JRTF-ELCAC member agencies in the NCR and bring TESDA’s program and services closer to underserved and marginalized communities in the region,” Mangudadatu said.

“Let us continue to work together to protect our kababayans (countrymen) from the fake propaganda of communist terrorist groups (CTGs). Our sincere effort to serve our kababayans is our best weapon to shield them from the influence of the CTGs,” the TESDA chief added.

Established under Executive Order (EO) No. 70, s. 2018, the NTF-ELCAC operationalizes the whole-of-nation approach in defeating CTGs and obtaining sustainable and inclusive peace throughout the Philippines.

At TESDA, Mangudadatu has a 10-Point Agenda that drives his administration.

These are: TESDA sa Barangay, Review of TESDA Training Regulations, Prioritize the Marginalized Sectors by Providing Training Programs to Address Skills Mismatch and Meet the Demands of the Industry, Continuous Monitoring of Training Program Implementation of Schools to Ensure Compliance with TESDA’s Policies and Guidelines, Enhanced Online Application, Promotion of Rural Enterprises and Area Development through TVET Programs, Youthpreneurship, TESDA Industry Exchange Program, Halal TVET, and Strengthening and Regeneration of the Internal Structure of the Agency.
