TAGUIG CITY (SDN) — A sad day for this city that prides itself as a Transformative, Caring, and Loving (TCL) urban community.
On the night of Friday, November 10, the lifeless bodies of two students at Signal Village National High School (SVNHS) were discovered by another student, the Sub-station No. 8 of the Taguig City Police Station (TCPS) said in a sport report reaching the news media.
In a related development, SDN — SciTech & Digital News was told by a former Davao City official that Vice President and Education Secretary Inday Sara Duterte has already learned of the deaths of the two SVNHS students.
A statement could be expected from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and DepEd.
The TCPS identified the two students only as “Victim (V)-1 Mary”, 15, Grade 10, at SVNHS, of South Signal, and “V2-Irish”, 13, Grade 8, SVNHS, of Zone 5, South Signal.
Meanwhile, the Taguig local government unit (LGU) headed by Mayor Maria Laarni “Lani’ L. Cayetano issued a statement expressing solidarity the families of the two students.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to their grieving families. The City Government assures the grieving families of its full support as they struggle to comprehend this inexplicable misfortune,” the Taguig LGU said.
A TCPS spot report dated November 11 said that a witness the police identified only as “Danielle”, 16, of Barangay Central Signal, “discovered the lifeless bodies of the victims hanging with rope tied on their neck attached at the steel grill of the said office.”
By “office”, the police spot report was referring to the third floor of the Girl Scout Main Office, Magsaysay Building of the SVNHS.
The Taguig police said the witness was told by the victims that at about 7:45 p.m. that they were going home. Later, “Danielle” and, presumably their other classmates, learned from their private chat group on Messenger their fellow SVNHS students did not go home.
That’s when the witness started looking for the two and found them without life at around 11 p.m.
On a post on Facebook, Rhea R. Manalo, said:
“Our family is asking and begging for your help — to all the classmates, teachers and friends of Irish Sheen Manalo and her classmate, Mary, come forward and tell the truth.”
She said her cousin Irish was an honor student and part of the GSP., Grade 8, Gold Section.
“She will not dare kill herself,” herself, Rhea Manalo declared, adding they were awaiting the result of an autopsy at the time she posted on her Facebook Wall at around 1 p.m., Saturday.
Any information, she said, can be relayed to her, or the big sister of Irish, Irene Jade Garcia Manalo.
Rhea Manalo also asked Department of Education (DepEd)-TAPAT Division of Taguig City and Pateros DepEd Philippines and Mayor Lani Cayetano.
An official statement of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Taguig said the “initial evidence” they gathered as well as by the Scene of Crime Operation (SOCO) “do not indicate foul play” concerning the two victims’ demise.
“PNP-Taguig urges the public to refrain from making speculations that could worsen the situation experienced by the grieving families,” even as they assured everyone, more so the families of a continued investigation. (/)
