COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), through its Directorate General for Madaris Education (DGME), has conducted an In-Service Training (InSet) on Socio-Emotional Learning for the Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (ISAL) Teachers-Asaatidz for the schools divisions of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Special Geographic Areas (SGAs).

A simultaneous session for the six batches of ISAL Teachers-Asaatidz were held at the Mall of Alnor, Cotabato City.

The activity aimed to improve and enhance the social awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills of these teachers.

Additionally, they are expected to create a positive impact, aligning with a broader commitment to nurturing well-rounded and emotionally intelligent learners in the region.

As a pivotal component of a comprehensive strategy, this endeavor is aligned with a broader vision to expand similar training initiatives across all school divisions under the MBHTE.

The overarching goal is to seamlessly integrate the advantages of socio-emotional learning into the educational fabric of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). MBHTE is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro government.

This activity is the third phase of the InSet for the newly hired ISAL teachers.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11.
