TAGUIG CITY (SDN) — Known as “TLC” (Transformative, Loving and Caring) City, this Metro Manila urban enclave’s chief executive has made life easier for job seekers as they hunt for employment.
This happy news broke out after Mayor Maria Laarni “Lani” L. Cayetano approves the city Sangguniang Panlungsod’s Ordinance No. 109 local legislators passed on December 18, 2023.
The ordinance signed by Cayetano removes private employers’ requirements on job applicants in Taguig to secure a Mayor’s Permit or Clearance. That lightens the task of both employers and those seeking employment in the city.
The mayor emphasized the importance of the Ordinance vis-a-vis abiding by the Constitution and protection of workers.
“Our commitment is anchored in the constitutional mandate to provide full protection to labor and to promote full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all. We strive to simplify processes, making them more accessible for individuals contributing to Taguig’s vibrant workforce,” Cayetano pointed out.

In a press statement from the Taguig Public Information Office (PIO), it was pointed out that the new “Ordinance modifies a provision in the Taguig Tax Revenue Code by adding the exempted individuals to ease the burden on them as they work.”
As a result, the Ordinance has come as savior for jobseekers, freeing them in terms of time and additional expenses.
“The amendment aligns with Taguig’s policy to encourage residents to actively seek employment and engage in their profession, in line with Section 16 of the Local Government Code of 1991, which emphasizes fair and just practices under the general welfare clause,” the PIO statement read.
