Bangsamoro Education Ministry Continues Distribution of Various School Supplies for BARMM Learners

COTABATO CITY — As part of the implementation of the Project Improve Quality Education in the Bangsamoro Land (I.Q.B.A.L.), the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), has distributed various school supplies to the school divisions of Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur I, Maguindanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte.

They are all located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

One of the 15 primary governance structures of the BARMM, the MBHTE is headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal.

He has been implementing reforms in the Bangsamoro region’s education sector since he assumed the leadership of the MBHTE at the start of the BARMM operation.

Project IQBAL is one of the instruments that implements the distribution of education-related supplies.

Before the month of April ended, the MBHTE distributed the supplies that included 3,922 Learners’ Kits, 49 sets of manipulative toys, 95 sets of flashcards, 145 sets of charts, and 17 boxes of McDonald’s toys.

With unwavering dedication, the Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to consistently raise the bar for education across the Bangsamoro Land, guaranteeing that each child has access to enriching learning opportunities.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction. With the recent plebiscite at SGA, the BARMM now has eight new municipalities as residents voted “Yes”.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities (plus eight newly established under the SGA: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.  (✓)
