COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) joined the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) and other BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies in the TABANG Bangsamoro Convergence Program held recently in the Province of Tawi-Tawi.
This initiative aligns with Chief Minister Ahod B. “Al-Haj Murad” Ebrahim’s commitment to unify Bangsamoro ministries and agencies in delivering immediate basic assistance to those in need.
BARMM stands for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The MBHTE has its Project Improve Quality Education in the Bangsamoro Land (IQBAL), one of its instruments in delivering services to BARMM schools.

As part of its support and participation, the MBHTE, headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, through its Property and Supply Section, distributed school supplies and equipment.
The Tawi-Tawi SDO (school division office) received 138 printers, 161 laptops, 1,065 tablets, 222 wall fans, 16 risographs, 7 photocopying machines, 81 boxes of bond papers, 198 heavy-duty staplers, 351 boxes of staple wires, 1,608 staple removers, and 111 tumblers.
Since the launching of Project TABANG, or Tulong Alay sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan, the Ministry has been working very hard to improve its operations to ensure the smooth delivery of critical education programs to the Bangsamoro communities.

By enhancing the Ministry’s ICT (information and communications technology) capabilities through the ISSP, Pathways and the Australian Government aim to foster a more efficient, data-driven approach to educational development in BARMM. This collaboration is a significant step towards achieving the Ministry’s vision of an improved education system that meets the needs of all learners.
The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction. With the recent plebiscite at SGA, the BARMM now has eight new municipalities as residents voted “Yes”.
