COTABATO CITY (SDN) — Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, head of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), has reminded his Bangsamoro brothers and sisters on the significance of Eidul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) which the Islamic world celebrated on June 16, 2024.
The MBHT is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), established through the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).
“This significant festival holds deep meaning for all of us, as it commemorates the unwavering faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the ultimate sacrifice he was willing to make,” the education chief of BARMM emphasized.
Iqbal issued his Eidul Adha message as Muslims in the Philippines joined an estimated 1.6 billion-strong Ummah (global Islamic community) in celebrating the festival, one of only two major festivals in Islam.
Eidul Fitr (Festival of Breaking the Fast) is the first of the two major festivals of the Islamic faith.

“Assalamu alaykum.
“As the Minister of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education in BARMM, it is my honor and privilege to extend my warmest greetings to you all on the joyous and blessed occasion of Eidul Adha. This significant festival holds deep meaning for all of us, as it commemorates the unwavering faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the ultimate sacrifice he was willing to make.
“Eidul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, reminds us of the core values of faith, compassion, and unity. It is a time for reflection on our spiritual journey and a reminder of the importance of selflessness and devotion. As we celebrate this occasion, let us also remember the less fortunate and extend our support and generosity to them, ensuring that they too can share in the joy of Eid.
“This year, as we gather with our families and friends, let us take a moment to appreciate the blessings we have and the strength of our community. Eidul Adha is not only a time for personal sacrifice but also an opportunity to strengthen our collective commitment to the well-being and development of our society. The spirit of sacrifice can be seen in our efforts to provide quality education, improve infrastructure, and create opportunities for growth and development in BARMM.
“As we celebrate, let us also renew our dedication to fostering an environment of peace, understanding, and progress. Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities. Let us work together to ensure that every child in BARMM has access to quality education, which is the foundation for a brighter future. Our efforts today will pave the way for the leaders of tomorrow.
On this auspicious occasion, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the educators, parents, and community leaders who continuously strive to make a positive impact on the lives of our youth. Your hard work and dedication are the pillars of our collective success.
“May this Eid bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to all. Let us celebrate with joy, love, and a renewed spirit of giving and unity. Wishing you and your families a blessed and joyous Eidul Adha.”
