TAGUIG CITY — Illegal drugs destroy an individual, a family, a community, a society and, perhaps, a nation.
That’s why the national government to the local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines are thick in the battle against the illegal drugs, the scourge of the youth.
Over here in Taguig under the leadership of Mayor Lani Lopez Cayetano the battle appears to be on the winning side.
This developed as two more barangays in the City of Taguig have been declared drug-cleared following the 2nd Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) deliberation held on Tuesday, August 6.
Barangay Napindan and Barangay North Daang Hari were added to the city’s roster of drug-cleared barangays, bringing the total number to 19.
Taguig City Police Station Acting Chief of Police, PCOL Christopher Olazo and Taguig Anti-Drug Abuse Office (TADAO) head Hilario S. Cruz attended the deliberation held at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig Auditorium.
The “drug-cleared barangay status” is given to those barangays previously considered drug-affected due to the presence of drug personalities, illegal drug users, drug pushers, and drug dens. These areas have successfully addressed drug issues through verified efforts and campaigns.
Under the leadership of Mayor Cayetano, Taguig City has intensified its fight against illegal drugs with comprehensive programs aimed at educating and engaging its communities.
TADAO ensures that officials, personnel, and residents across all 38 barangays benefit from key initiatives like Preventive Education, Drug-Free Workplace, Treatment and Rehabilitation, and Barangay Drug Clearing programs. (/)
