The Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has expanded its Eton Centris Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation to cater to the growing power needs of commercial establishments and residential customers in Quezon City.

The Php201.34-million project involved the installation of a new 83 MVA power transformer, 34.5 kilovolts (kV) GIS, 14.4 megavolt-amperes reactive (MVAR) capacitor bank and four new distribution feeders.

The project will serve the growing power demand in the city, including from large-load customers such as Eton Centris, Ayala Vertis North, Alveo Highpark, TriNoma and Solaire Hotel & Casino.

It will also support the power needs of various government projects such as MRT 7’s North Avenue and Quezon City Memorial Stations, and of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration PAGASA), an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Meralco continuously invests heavily on projects aimed to improve its electricity distribution system and ensure safe, stable and reliable electricity service to its customers. (/)
