Hundreds of Trainees under MBHTE TESD Offices Complete Free TVET Courses in Tawi-Tawi and Lanao del Sur

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal has welcomed graduates of technical-vocational training graduates in Lanao del Sur.

On October 22, 2024, the MBHTE, one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), conducted a Mass Graduation Ceremony at the FM Function Hall of Barangay Ragayan, Marantao, Lanao del Sur, celebrating the tech-voc trainees’ successful training activities.

The trainees took courses on Bread and Pastry Production National Competency (NC) II, Driving NC II, Agricultural Crops Production NC II, aand Dressmaking NC II.

They belong to the Tulong ng Tekbok Tungo sa Pag-angat ng Bangsamoro (TTPB) of the Bangsamoro Scholarship Program for Free TVET (BSPTVET). TVET stands for technical vocational education and training.

The graduates expressed their gratitude to Minister Iqbal and the MBHTE for opportunity to be in the free training with allowance provided to them by the Bangsamoro government.

“Ito’y bunga ng patuloy na pagsisikap ng ahensiya na makapagbigay ng skills training sa mga mamamayan ng Lanao del Sur, sa pamumuno ni Provincial Director Asnawi L. Bato,” the MBHTE said. (This is a fruit of the continuing initiatives of the agency to provide skills training for the citizens of Lanao del Sur under the leadership of Provincial Director Asnawi L. Bato.)

Earlier, on August 3 to 11, the Directorate General for Technical Education (DGTE) headed by Director General Dr. Ruby Andong conducted the graduation of 361 trainees in belonging to the MBHTE Tawi-Tawi TESD (Technical Education and Skills Development) Provincial Office.

The Tawi-Tawi graduates are also recipients of the MBHTE’s BSPTVET.

They took courses such as:

• Cookery NC-II
• Carpentry NC-II
• Bread and Pastry Production NC-II
• Masonry NC-II
• SMAW NC-II
• Organic Agricultural Production NC-II
• PV System Installation NC-II
• Carpentry NC-II
• Cookery NC-II
• Bread and Pastry Production NC-II
• Technical Drafting NC-II
• Computer System Servicing NC-II
• Dressmaking NC-II
• Cookery NC-II

Meanwhile, the MBHTE has broken ground for the installation of fencing and gate at the  Bangsamoro Kulliyyah for Islamic Studies (formerly Regional Madrasah Graduate Academy) in Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur, last October 17, 2024. To be funded under GAAB 2023, the project is worth Php4,763,286.

The madrasah’s new fence and gate are being installed to enhance the security and accessibility of the academy, ensuring a safe learning environment for its learners.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction. With the recent plebiscite at SGA, the BARMM now has eight new municipalities as residents voted “Yes”.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities (plus eight newly established under the SGA: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.  (✓)
