COTABATO CITY (SDN) — A busy week has the Bangsamoro interim Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua travel to Western Mindanao (Region IX) as he graced an important event.
He attended the 1st Bangsamoro Consultative Assembly in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur, although not a part of the Bangsamoro region is close to the heart of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for there are many fellow Muslims there.
Residents of the BARMM have many relatives in Pagadian City and other local government units (LGUs) of the province.
In a post on Facebook, Macacua expressed happiness that he was invited to the event.
He spoke about “the sacrifices of our past to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (2014 CAB), to the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), and now the continuing work of the BARMM, our story is one of perseverance, faith, and hope.”
He emphasizes:
“At the heart of our vision remains two guiding principles: moral governance and lasting peace. These are our covenant with the Bangsamoro people, and with all our neighbors in Mindanao– including our brothers and sisters here in Zamboanga del Sur.
Macacua, chief of staff of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF-BIAF), noted that the assembly is a proof that “our fates are connected.”
The progress of the BARMM, he pointed out, is progress of the whole of Mindanao.
“In sha Allah, it is not the wounds of war that we are going to leave behind to the next generations of the Bangsamoro, but the fruits of peace towards a stable Bangsamoro,” Macacua, secretary general of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the political wing of the MILF, which on September 23, 2024, formally shifted into a social movement.

Since he was appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to replace the then-Chief Minister Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim, chair of the MILF Central Committee and president of the UBJP, Macacua has been a busy body.
