TAGUIG CITY — After distributing Emergency Go-Bags in all of its 52 public schools, the City of Taguig commenced the house-to-house distribution of Emergency Go-Bags in residential communities, starting with Centennial Village in Barangay Western Bicutan on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Mayor Lani Cayetano personally led the distribution, joined by Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, members of the City Council, barangay officials, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) team.

A total of 1,248 Emergency Go-Bags were distributed to residents of 13 buildings within the village, each designed to help families respond quickly and safely during emergencies.

Each Go-Bag contains essential survival and first-aid supplies, including:

โ€ข Emergency Go-Bag Guidelines (printed safety instructions and emergency contact list)

First Aid Kit with adhesive bandages, elastic wrap bandage, triangular cloth bandage, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, gauze pads, medical tape, cotton balls, wound cleaning solution, bandage scissors, and five (5) face masks

Flashlight for use during power outages

Whistle to signal rescuers or attract attention during emergencies

She explained that the initial distribution prioritizes medium to high-rise residential areas, identified as high-risk zones during earthquakes and other emergencies. Apart from public schools, Taguig is also completing the distribution of Go-Bags to all city facilities and 156 child development centers, with other residential villages and condominiums in the city scheduled to receive theirs in the coming days.

The house-to-house distribution continued on Tuesday, October 14, in other high-risk residential areas, including:

โ€ข Tenement, Brgy. Western Bicutan

Bagong Lipunan Condominium, Brgy. Western Bicutan

Maharlika Housing, Brgy. Maharlika

MRB Condominium, Brgy. Ususan

Pamayanang Diego Silang, BCDA, Brgy. Ususan

โ€œOur goal is simple — no household left unprepared. This is part of our larger effort to ensure that disaster readiness starts at home,โ€ Mayor Lani noted.

For Centennial Village residents like Rafael Negradas, 36, the program brings both relief and reassurance.

Similarly, Monalyn Reyes, a 35-year-old mother of three, said the Go-Bag program is a big help for families on a tight budget:

โ€œHindi lahat ng pamilya kayang bumili ng mga emergency items tulad ng first-aid kit. Malaking tulong itong Go-Bag mula sa LGU. Ipinapakita nito na ang Taguig ay talagang nagmamalasakit.โ€

Mayor Lani said the Go-Bag distribution to schools was only the beginning of a citywide initiative that will soon reach more than 200,000 households. She also reminded residents to stay informed through official city pages and barangay channels.

Mayor Lani said that while Taguig continues to pray for protection from disasters, its strength lies in preparedness:

โ€œNagdarasal tayo na huwag tayong tamaan ng matinding kalamidad,โ€ she said.
