MARIKINA CITY, December 12, 2025 — In appreciation of the hard work and sacrifices of all Marikina teachers, the local government, led by Mayor Maan Teodoro, is treating educators from both public and private schools to a full day of rest and entertainment through free movie screenings today, Friday, on Marikina Teachers’ Day.
The mayor said teachers may avail themselves of complimentary movie tickets and snacks at SM Marikina, offering them a well-deserved break in celebration of Marikina Teachers’ Day.
“With everything our teachers sacrifice and the hard work they pour into shaping our youth, this is simply our small way of expressing our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all dedicated Marikina teachers, especially this Christmas,” Teodoro said.
The mayor said teachers act as second parents to their students, nurturing young minds and helping mold values that guide them through life.
“Beyond teaching lessons, our teachers serve as second parents who patiently nurture young minds and help mold the values that guide our children as they grow,” she said.
“Their daily sacrifices and unwavering dedication deserve our deepest gratitude, and we hope this simple gesture reminds them of how much they mean to Marikina,” she added.
To allow teachers to fully enjoy the occasion, the city has declared a “no classes” day for all school levels in public and private academic institutions.
Mayor Maan underscored that the special holiday serves as a recognition of the invaluable role teachers play in shaping learners and strengthening communities.
“Our teachers are in their classrooms every day, year-round, carrying the great responsibility of nurturing our youth and helping shape our nation’s future,” she said.
“Today, we honor their earnest efforts and commitment to education by giving them the opportunity to rest, recharge, and rekindle bonds with their families, friends, and loved ones,” the mayor added.
Marikina Teachers’ Day is celebrated every second Friday of December, in accordance with Marikina City Ordinance No. 31, Series of 2010. (/)
