What you may call the right hand giving, and the left hand taking. In plain language, sarcasm?

MANILA — Someone has suggested that Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto should apply as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.
“Alvin & Tourism” on Facebook made the suggestion in the wake of the Eat Bulaga television talent criticizing the Supreme Court for its final judgment on congressmen’s mothballed impeachment in 2025 against still very much popular Vice President Inday Sara Duterte.
“I strongly urged SP Sotto to consider applying for a position as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court once a vacancy arises,” the social media post said.
Alvin & Tourism posted his reaction on Sotto’s reaction on the Supreme Court’s final and unappealable ruling against the well-loved Vice President from Mindanao.

“It’s a sad day for Constitutional Law and students and professors. The Constitution had just been amended unconstitutionally through Supreme Court overreaxh. When the law is clear, there is nothing to interpret, as any first year law student knows,” the Eat Bulaga mainstay reacted.
He claimed that the Supreme Court strayed into legislative territory by laying down rules for Congress to follow in impeachment proceedings.
It’s “clear judicial legislation,” the Senate President, who became famous through Eat Bulaga, asserts.
“Impeachment is now an impossible dream,” he continues.
Sotto’s take on “impossible dream” would have certainly made the hearts of the Vice President’s supporters, admirers, and sympathizers go a-flutter no end.
They could be wishing that Sotto just unwittingly made a self-fulfilling prophecy that would spare Vice President Inday Sara Duterte from another impeachment.
It can be recalled the House of Representatives filed a motion for reconsideration to overturn the ruling of the Supreme Court last year.
The High Court justices did not find any merit in the House petition, emphasized Camille Ting, the Supreme Court spokesperson.
So, has the battle been redrawn?
What if Sotto’s potentially self-fulfilling prophecy become true like Alladin’s Magic Lamp?
Let’s have a fantasy scenario: if President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. ceases to be President for whatever reason and Vice President Inday Sara Duterte is impeached, who’s the next successor?
No other than the Senate President, which as of today is Sotto.
