MARIKINA CITY, February 13, 2026 — Just days before Valentine’s Day, the city’s Mayor Maan Teodoro officiated Thursday, February 12, the wedding of 10 rider-couples, legitimizing and making official their love for one another in a special ceremony held here at the historic Kapitan Moy Plaza in Barangay Sta. Elena.

The mass wedding, organized by the Marikina City government, brought together couples, ranging from delivery riders to motorcycle enthusiasts, who formally sealed their commitment in the presence of family, friends, and city officials.

Beyond the exchange of vows, the ceremony highlighted the city’s continuing efforts to strengthen families and promote a culture that values love, responsibility, and community solidarity.

In her message to the newlyweds, Mayor Maan likened marriage to a long motorcycle journey, filled with both smooth roads and inevitable challenges.

She emphasized that a lasting marriage requires partnership built on trust and patience.

Kapag may hamon, huwag agad bibitaw. Huwag mag-uunahan o mag-iiwanan — magkasama dapat kayo.”

The local chief executive further encouraged couples to remain steadfast during difficult moments in their marriage.

As part of the celebration, the city government also provided monetary gifts to the couples to help them begin their married life together.

Under the Local Government Code of 1991, city mayors are authorized to solemnize marriages within their jurisdiction as part of their official functions.

Through initiatives such as mass weddings, the Marikina City government continues to support couples who may face financial constraints, while fostering a community grounded in strong families, shared commitment, and enduring love. (/)
