MANILA, February 16, 2026 (SDN) — In the run-up to the multiple-postponed and re-scheduled first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro region, it appears that a political crisis has emerged among and between concerned Moro leaders.
What’s apparently fanning the flame of misunderstanding is the love and hate, the pros and cons, discourse on social media by netizens who are taking sides.
On the part of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chaired by Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim, former interim chief minister of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), the Government of the Day running the Bangsamoro Government, it has been conducting a series of assemblies.
Two assemblies kicked off in Basilan province in Al-Barka Municipality and in the Ranaw Region, MILF Satellite Office, SAndab, Butig, Lanao del Sur, on February 12; Maguindanao del Norte and Cotabato City on February 14; Maguindanao del Sur and Special Geographic Area (SGA) on February 15.

The MILF gatherings conclude today, Monday, February 16, with the General Assembly at Camp Darapanan, Crossing Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
In the MILF’s Memorandum Order No. 004-2025, Ebrahim emphasized the objectives of the gatherings.
“The Provincial Assemblies and the forthcoming General Assembly will serve as vital platform for consultation, reporting, policy-direction-setting, organizational updates, and reaffirmation of our collective commitment to the objectives and principles of the Front.”
All the members of the MILF, provincial committees, municipal committees, sectoral committees, and affiliated structures were urged to participate in the assemblies.
Through the assemblies, the MILF, which formally shifted to a social movement on September 23, 2023, seeks to strengthen organizational unity, enhance coordination in its multi-level leadership, and ensure alignment with the policies, directives, and strategic direction of the MILF.

Ebrahim said that “it is imperative (for) all members to actively participate in official assemblies of the organization”.
In the MILF’s Memorandum Order No. 005, s. 2026, the Front chairman said it is mandatory for everyone to participate in the 2026 MILF General Assembly happening today, Monday, in Camp Darapanan, the Front’s Administrative Center.
Ebrahim addressed the memorandum to all members of the Central Committee (MILF-CC), Expanded Central Committee Members, General Staff and Department Heads, Front Commanders, Base Commanders and Deputy Base Commanders of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (MILF-BIAF), Chairpersons of Provincial Committees and Line Agencies, Heads of Standing Committees, Heads of Military Advisory Council, Heads of MILF Peace Mechanism-Peace Implementing Panel, Heads of ABMMA, Heads of Alpha and Bravo Companies (Both Inside and Outside the Bangsamoro Homeland).
He said the “listed layers of officials of the organization is directed to attend the MILF General Assembly on February 16, 2026 at the Camp Darapanan Gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.”
As of this writing, the Front’s General Assembly in Camp Darapanan is in progress. (/)
