LAMITAN CITY — It was a day filled with pride at the City Hall as Mayor Oric Furigay personally welcomed the city’s young champions from two major competitions.
The Lamitan City Delegation, composed of resilient athletes and dedicated Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE)-Lamitan City Schools Division officials, paid a courtesy call to the city chief executive following their successful run at the 2026 BARMAA Meet in Parang, Maguindanao.
MBHTE is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
They didn’t just bring home medals, they brought honors by securing the 3rd Runner-Up (Secondary Level) spot and the Most Friendly Delegate Award.
Based on the official tally, the team hauled:
- Secondary Level:30 Medals (1 Gold, 1 Silver, 28 Bronze)
- Elementary Level:15 Medals (1 Gold, 5 Silver, 9 Bronze)
- Paragames:16 Medals (9 Gold, 1 Silver, 6 Bronze)
Adding to the day’s celebration was the visit of Aicka Mae A. Delos Reyes from Mt. Trail Elementary School.
Fresh from the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026 in Ormoc City, Leyte, Aicka Mae made history by winning 5th Place in Pagsulat ng Balitang Pang-Agham at Teknolohiya, outshining representatives from 18 regions nationwide together with her coach, Baby Cris Bentoy.
As a token of appreciation for their hard work and for putting Lamitan on the national and regional map, Furigay announced that the City Government has prepared cash rewards for the winning athletes and campus journalists.
This gesture aims to further inspire the city’s youth to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
Congratulations to all our winners! Truly, the talent and spirit of the Lamiteño youth are second to none. Abante pa more, Lamitan City!
