BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua Convenes MBHTE Officials and Education Sector Representatives to Address Urgent Concerns

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro interim Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, in his capacity as Concurrent Minister of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), has convened the other day a meeting with MBHTE officials and education sector representatives.

MBHTE is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), formerly headed by Member of the Parliament (MP) Mohagher M. Iqbal.

Macacua’s meeting with the education officials and sector representatives was to address several urgent operational and administrative concerns aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of education services across the Bangsamoro region.

Established in 2018 through the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 CAB, the BARMM is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) made of eight municipalities in North Cotabato but under the BARMM government’s jurisdiction.

Among the matters discussed at the meeting included preparations for upcoming high-level engagements, operational and financial concerns affecting ministry programs, the scheduled oath-taking of newly appointed and promoted personnel, implementation of the updated Department of Education (DepEd) grading system, and the processing of pending permits for private schools.

Chief Minister Macacua emphasized the importance of maintaining efficient coordination and responsive governance within the education sector to safeguard the welfare of Bangsamoro learners, teachers, and schools, ensuring that no Bangsamoro learners is left behind.

He also reiterated the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional systems and improving public service delivery under the banner of #MasMatatagNaBangsamoro.

The meeting was attended by MBHTE Director Generals Marjuni M. Maddi for Higher Education, Ruby A. Andong for Technical Skills Development (TESD), Prof. Tahir G. Nalg for Madaris Education, Johnny G. Balawag, representative for Basic Education, Yusoph Thong Amino of the Bureau for Sports, Al Khan Sancula of the Bureau for SPED, and Judith D. Calbalejo of the Bureau for Indigenous People. (/)
