TAGUIG CITY, Metro Manila — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – National Capital Region (TESDA NCR) launched WorldSkills Philippines–National Capital Region 2026 on May 25, 2026, bringing together the region’s most promising young technical-vocational (tech-voc) talents in a high-level competition designed to showcase Filipino excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness.
Anchored on the theme “ONE NCR: Skilled, Dynamic, and Future-Ready,” the competition serves as the official qualifying platform for the WorldSkills Philippines 2026 National Competition. The opening ceremony was held at the TESDA Multipurpose Gymnasium in the TESDA Complex, Bicutan, Taguig City, with the closing ceremony scheduled on May 29, 2026.
The event gathered key stakeholders from government, industry, and the technical-vocational education and training (TVET) sector, led by TESDA Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez and TESDA NCR Regional Director Angelina M. Carreon.
A total of 120 competitors are competing across 35 skills areas covering six priority sectors, with guidance and evaluation from 98 experts from industry and training institutions. Featured disciplines include Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Mechatronics, Graphic Design Technology, Web Technologies, Automobile Technology, Electrical Installations, Additive Manufacturing, Fashion Technology, and Electric Vehicle Technology.
This year’s competition also highlights newly introduced and emerging disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Game Programming, and Prototype Modeling, reflecting TESDA NCR’s commitment to aligning TVET with the rapidly evolving demands of the global workforce and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
According toCarreon, the strong participation of 76 industry partners and sponsors demonstrates the private sector’s continuing confidence in TVET as a key driver of workforce development and economic growth.
TESDA NCR’s track record in producing globally competitive champions further underscores the significance of the competition.
Graphic Design expert Demetrio Pable and competitor Hannah Krystelle Caintic, gold medalist from the 2025 WorldSkills ASEAN Manila, will represent the Philippines at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai this September 2026.
They will join approximately 1,400 competitors from 73 countries competing across 64 skills areas, showcasing Filipino talent on the world stage.
Through WorldSkills Philippines–NCR 2026, TESDA NCR continues to champion skills excellence and empower the next generation of Filipino professionals by providing a platform where talent, innovation, and opportunity converge. (/)
