(SDN) — DITO Telecommunity, the Third Major Player in the Philippines’ telecommunications industry, has chosen Fortinet as its major cybersecurity provider.
Fortinet Philippines announced this today, September 15, in an email sent to SDN — Science & Digital News, saying DITO Telecommunity has chosen it “as its primary cybersecurity provider.”
The United States-based company is known as “a global leader in broad, integrated, and automated cybersecurity solutions.”
“DITO Telecommunity will leverage Fortinet’s comprehensive network security platform, serving as its primary cybersecurity provider.
“As the 3rd telecommunications company in the Philippines, DITO Telecommunity aims to provide Filipinos superior products and services of world-class quality, enabling customers across the country to stay connected, anytime, and anywhere,” Fortinet noted.
On the other hand, Fortinet has the reputation as a cybersecurity firm “that secures the largest enterprise, service provider, and government organizations in the Philippines and around the world.”
The U.S.-headquartered cybersecurity firm said its Security Fabric architecture, it empowers its customers with intelligent, seamless protection across the expanding attack surface as well as the power to take on today’s ever-increasing performance requirements of the borderless network.
DITO Telecommunity Corporation is a joint venture of Davao City-based businessman Dennis Uy through his Udenna Corporation and Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. and state-owned China Telecommunications Corporation. Uy is president of Udenna Corporation and a big supporter of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
The telecoms firm was formerly known as Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (Mislatel), but soon renamed in what it is called today.
DITO Telecommunity is based at Udenna Tower, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila. “DITO” is a Pilipino word that means “here”, a nod to the firm’s operations and being based in the country.
Aside from Uy, two other key leaders at DITO Telecommunity are Ernesto R. Alberto, formerly of PLDT, and lawyer Adel Tamano. Fortinet Philippines is headed by Country Manager Louie Castaneda. (✓)
