Interior Minister Naguib Sinarimbo Keeps Busy with BARMM Affairs

Media Release:

Here’s a report from Minister Naguib Sinarimbo, head of the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as his ministry keeps it’s wheels running chasing progress in the region.

He described as “gross” several unfinished projects apparently from the time of the unlamented ARMM. Minister Sinarimbo, a veteran of the two Mindanao peace negotiations, posted this on his Facebook account.

Groundbreaking for a municipal hall building.

=========

I did a sweep of the four municipalities of Lanao del Sur that we have provided funding for the construction of their two-storey municipal buildings. We handed to them their checks representing the first tranche of their funds and from then on subsequent releases will be based on their actual accomplishment.

First stop was Lumbac a Unayan, a municipality high on the southern side of Lanao Lake with beautiful andulating landscape close to the mountain range dividing Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.

Groundbreaking for new municipal hall building.

Second stop was Sultan Dumalondong, a new municipality gifted with fertile land on a plateau. There is also a school in this municipality least known but founded by the Americans in 1901 called the Lanao Agriculture School. High value crops are planted in the fertile lands of this municipality.

Next was Butig, with Atty. Jimmy Pansar, the current LMP (League of Municipality of the Philippines) president of Lanao del Sur as mayor. The municipality is gifted with beautiful natural scenery such as waterfalls and swift rivers and lagoons. This is also the bastion of the MILF and where its founding Chair, Salamat Hashim is buried.

Last stop was Poona Bayabao, a municipality with a perfect combination of mountains, rice fields and lakeshore. Its mountain affords a perfect view of the Lake from the east side.

Handover of check for municipal hall building.

The day was capped with a meeting with my former boss now Congressman Ansaruddin “Hooky” Adiong.

Along the way l noticed and as reported by the mayors, a lot of unfinished projects such as rows upon rows of unfinished housing projects, uncompleted road projects and bridges and water systems nowhere to be found. This is gross. (✓)
