COTABATO CITY — To continue delivering comprehensive and integrated health services to the Bangsamoro people, a measure seeking to construct and establish the Datu Blah Sinsuat Municipal Hospital (DBSMH) in Maguindanao Province was introduced in the Bangsamoro Parliament.
Parliament Bill No. 118, also known as the “Datu Blah T. Sinsuat Municipal Hospital Establishment Act of 2021”, hopes to serve patients from the mentioned municipality with sufficient medical support and service.
Parliament members Zul Qarneyn Abas and Baintan Ampatuan filed the bill on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health will supervise the said hospital to fulfill its goal of providing “highly accessible, affordable, comprehensive total health care and hospital services to the BARMM constituents.”
The DBSMH is initially positioned as an infirmary with a 10-15 bed capacity. It will operate in accordance with the Department of Health’s (DOH) Bureau of Health Facilities and Services’ licensing standards.
Once passed, the bill will allocate Php78 million for the hospital’s construction, procurement of equipment, and initial operations.
To date, there are 10 bills in the plenary that seek to improve and construct medical facilities in the BARMM.
The Bangsamoro Parliament urges the Committee on Health to act immediately and approve all bills relating to the upgrade and construction of hospitals within the region as the Covid-19 continues to pose challenges in the country.
The said town has also benefited from various Bangsamoro government infrastructure projects.
In April this year, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod “Al-Hajj Murad” Ebrahim and other Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) members led the inauguration of the Matuber Bridge in the coastal community of DBS to help them boost economic activities.
Following the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, DBS and other towns in Maguindanao and Basilan now have their respective Internal Revenue Allocation (IRA). (Publication and Media Relations Division) (✓)
