NCMF-North Luzon Conducts Series of Community Activities in La Union

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-North Luzon Team, under Regional Director Atty. Raihanah Sarah Macarimpas, has conducted a series of activities in the municipality of Balaoan and in the city San Fernando in La Union, on November 4 to 5, 2021.

Regional Director Macarimpas and her group coordinated with Alhuda Center La Union, led by General Manager Abdullah Mohammad Sabri Abusweireh and Aminah Mahreen Ramos, to conduct free pneumonia and influenza vaccination in the Balaoan Farmers Civic Center. Medical volunteers from Lorma Medical Center assisted NCMF Nurse Sitti Divina Roxas. There were 190 persons inoculated for influenza vaccine and 4 persons for pneumococcal vaccine, with senior citizens and children as priority.

A simultaneous Free Legal Aid Activity was also conducted. There were eight persons who were given assistance in the preparation and free notarization of their last will and testament for Islamic burial. A legal consultation was also performed in which the legal concerns of the participants were answered by Regional Director Macarimpas and Atty. Nor-ainah Daragangan.

In addition, 50 boxes of donated noodles (one box containing 30 pieces of noodles) were also distributed by the team to the Muslim community in Balaon, La union.

In San Fernando City, another 50 boxes of noodles were given to the Muslim Filipino residents. The boxes were received by the president of the La Union Muslim Community Center, Zainal Macapundag.

Also conducted was the profiling of the masjeeds (mosques) in San Fernando City  by Monalangcap Datumanong, the chief of the Cultural Affairs Division.

NCMF Secretary Saidamen B. Pangarungan through Regional Director Macarimpas expressed their gratitude to medical volunteers from Lorma Medical Center and Lorma Colleges. The same appreciation to Alhuda Center and Discover Islam Baguio for their assistance. Special thanks to Municipality of Balaoan Mayor La Union Atty. Aleli Concepcion and the Balaoan local government unit (LGU) for providing the Team with the use of Balaoan Farmers Civic Center as their venue.
