(SDN) — The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government’s (MILG) humanitarian arm has again reached out to residents of Cotabato City, the seat of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
No less than MILG Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo led the distribution of assistance to the residents of the city’s Barangay (Village) Poblacion 7 on Friday, January 28, 2022.
The humanitarian activity through MILG’s helping arm, Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi), was in response to the request of village officials for assistance to residents who are severely affected by the crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic now running to its third devastating year. With still no end in sight.
Sinarimbo personally appeared at the turnover of 2,000 packs of relief goods for the residents, handing them out to Barangay Captain Hasanal L. Adtong, along with his village council men and “purok” (section) leaders.
The relief goods were in turn handed out house-to-house by Adtong, Councilman Jimmy Pasikaman, and former barangay chairman Solaiman U. Udtong. The relief packs contained 10 kilos of rice, cans of sardines, and coffee.
Adtol and his fellow village officials expressed their utmost gratitude to the Bangsamoro government through the MILG for the assistance for his constituents.
Dialogue with village officials, renewal of kinship
Meanwhile, Sinarimbo took advantage of his visit to the Barangay Poblacion 7 as he held a dialogue with the village officials.
“It was an opportunity to listen to their concerns and present to them the vision of the Bangsamoro Government and how this links to the development of the city. It was also an opportunity to renew ties with our relatives both from my paternal and maternal lineages,” the MILG head said.
“I took the opportunity also to deliver the relief assistance that they have requested for their constituents especially during this pandemic. I also inspected the proposed site of their new barangay hall which we are funding.”
Under his leadership, the MILG has been one of the busiest BARMM ministries of the Bangsamoro government as Sinarimbo implements a myriad of programs and projects for the region’s various areas and communities.
Earlier on January 24, the MILG READi also distributed around 3,000 packs of relief goods to the city’s Barangay Rosary Heights 7. Barangay Chairman Mohammad Syed Azzarouk received them and distributed to residents.
On January 25 MILG READi brought the relief assistance to Barangay Kalanganan 1 also of the city.
Over 2,000 relief packs were turned over to Barangay Captain Norhasim “Lili” Ayunan Pasawiran for distribution to the households.
It was emphasized that the distribution of relief assistance were all on the request of the city’s village leaders due to the pandemic.
The BARMM is composed of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi as well as 63 villages in North Cotabato designated as Special Geographic Area (SGA) in North Cotabato province. (EKU) — (✓)
