(SDN) — Surely, the high-ranking officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF-BIAF) have played and still plays key role in the Mindanao peace process.

There is a prevailing ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, thank God, with the Philippine government, but still their role and adherence to the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) is much welcome. It’s a testament to the strong leadership of the MILF under Chairman Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim.
So, it is not surprising the Base commanders and their senior commanders are being taken care of the Bangsamoro government led by Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Ebrahim.
As Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo, head of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), reported, a meeting was conducted with BIAF Base commanders and their senior commanders on February 6, 2022, to update them on the progress of the CAB’s implementation as well as hear out their concerns.
In fact, the MILG had a set of events on that day.
“First, we met with all our Base Commanders and their senior commanders whose areas of operation cover Maguindanao, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Sarangani, and General Santos City,” said Sinarimbo, BARMM spokesman.
“We are truly grateful for their continuing support to the peace process and the leadership of the MILF and the BARMM. They also affirm their ‘bai’ah’ to the cause and the leadership of the MILF.”
The MILG head noted in their dialogue a common thread voiced out by the BIAF officers.
“A common thread in that conversation was ‘Di nami man idsambi su umpongan endu su kinandalumasayan nami sa paidu bu a tamok’ (We will not exchange the organization and our sacrifices for a little wealth),” Sinarimbo quoted the BIAF top officers as saying.
The MILF-BIAF officers welcomed the dialogue with the BARMM government.

“What a brilliant initiative for the conduct of consultation meeting for purpose of strengthening the vision of MILF-BIAF toward cooperation aiming growth and progression in the Bangsamoro land. My appreciation to the convenor’s of the said group meeting as headed by MILG Minister Sir Naguib Sinarimbo,” commented Dan S. Asnawie of the
114 Base Command in the province of Basilan.
Meanwhile, in the second meeting the MILG team presided over the mass oath taking of the officers and members of the MILF’s political party, the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), in the municipalities of Guindulungan and Talitay.
“Our hearts are full seeing the droves of our people who joined the event to affirm their commitment to support the programs of the party and the government of the BARMM that the party now leads. We express our sincerest gratitude to our people and the young and dynamic Mayor of Guindulungan, Hon. JR Midtimbang, for hosting the event,” Sinarimbo said.
It can be recalled the UBJP has fielded or at least chose candidates running for the May 09, 2022 national and local elections. (/)
