Bangsamoro MBHTE Seeking to Hire Principal I & Teacher I in Basilan

COTABATO CITY — Headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education continued its initiative to improve education in the Bangsamoro region.

As many already know, the Bangsamoro region, or the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) covers five provinces, three cities, and 63 barangays or villages geographically located in North Cotabato but under BARMM jurisdiction.

Established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), the BARMM territory is made up of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the 63 villages collectively dubbed Special Geographic Area (SGA) that voted “yes” in a plebiscite in January and February 2019.

The BARMM population per the Philippine Atlas has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.

Improving the quality of education in the region is a top priority of the Bangsamoro government and is being put into action by Minister Iqbal, an author and a stalwart of the Mindanao peace process. The MBHTE doing it through construction of new school buildings, hiring of more teachers, providing better services, among others, to teachers, students, and parents, not to say, the communities.

In connection with this goal, the MBHTE, through its Human Resource Management Division (MBHTE-HRMD), hereby announces the schedule of hiring procedures for the positions of School Principal I and Teacher I in the schools divisions of Basilan and Lamitan City.
