COTABATO CITY (SDN) — In December 2019, the world woke up to a quite a nightmare that unfolded as days, months, and years passed by.
It was the month, the year when China reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) that a virus had emerged in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, and its impact immediately felt across the world as the long list of sick people and deaths continued to file.
Today, as in 2022, approaching three years the onslaught of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has slowed down (though sick people and deaths still are constant globally.
In relation with the health crisis, the WHO suggested issued health protocols that every country must follow to prevent the transmission and spread of the virus.
These are hand washing, wearing of masks & face shields, and social distancing.
Presently, in the Philippines, according to WorldoMeters.info, there are now 3,980,629 confirmed cases and 63,477 fatalities as of October 16, 2022.
Globally, there 629,750,343 confirmed cases and 6,570,966 deaths, also of the same time frame.
And over at the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the regional government has been implementing the minimum health protocols like the rest of the Philippines.
To emphasize the vital need to follow the health protocols, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), one of the Bangsamoro government’s primary ministries, is holding a Poster Making Contest. The MBHTE is headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, who is also a minister of Parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).
MBHTE’s creativity contest revolves around the “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene”, this year’s celebration’s theme.
Eligible to join the poster making competition are elementary and secondary learners in the BARMM.

The Bangsamoro region is comprised of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as 63 barangays or villages in North Cotabato but under the Bangsamoro governmentโs jurisdiction and are collectively known as the Special Geographic Area (SGA).
Residents of the 63 villages voted to be under the Bangsamoro government in a plebiscite in January and February 2019, as part of efforts to widen the regionโs territorial jurisdiction.
