COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro government under the leadership of Chief Minister Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim distributed relief assistance on March 21, 2023, to its constituents given through the city’s “masjids” (mosques).
Relief assistance was also distributed on the same day to a number of barangays in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as the first day of Ramadan, the holy month of Islam, started with today, March 23, during which Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, and engaging in sex from sunup to sundown.
Headed by Interior Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) distributed the assistance, implementing its mandate from the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM).

The MILG also brought equipment to help ease doing business with SGA barangays or villages.

According to the Philippine Atlas has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.
He expressed thanks as well to the village and community leaders who came to witness the MILG activities, further assuring them that more is coming in the form of “dividends of peace” from the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB). — EKU with reports from MILG (✓)
