COTABATO CITY (SDN) — Bangsamoro Education Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal has called on teachers and learners on the importance of having a safe and orderly learning environment as the 2023-2024 school year opened.
“In the opening of classes this year, I want to emphasize the importance of having a safe and orderly school environment,” Iqbal, head of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), one of the primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM,” he said.

The Department of Education (DepEd) headed by Vice President Inday Sara Duterte, the education secretary, opened the school season on August 29 with more than 22 million learners trooping to their respective schools.
Iqbal, also a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), said it is the aim of the MBHTE “to make our schools a caring shelter, where every learner can experience learning freely without fear and anxiety”.
He added: “It is vital that we are open to changes and progress so that we can maintain every day in school anticipatory and worthwhile. Our hope is that we can have empathy for each other, help each other, and promote a culture of respect and understanding.”
Iqbal said further that education is the foundation of the future of the Bangsamoro.


“Presently, and most importantly ever, education continues to give light in the middle of uncertainties. We hope that our advocacy to spread knowledge and maintain the safety of everyone in the BARMM would inspire us all,” the MBHTE chief said.
In line with the Bangsamoro government’s objective to provide a conducive environment for learning, the MBHTE just before the opening of classes, delivered and distributed 2,120 MBHTE-designed armchairs to 15 Bangsamoro schools.

The schools belong to the schools division offices (SDos) of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur I and Lanao del SurII, and Cotabato City.
Recipient schools are the following:
1. Balabagan Trade School (450 pcs.)
2. Cotabato City NHS-Rojas Site Cotabato (80 pcs.)
3. Datu Unsay CES (90 pcs.)
4. Gayonga CES (80 pcs.)
5. Jose Abad Santos ES (90 pcs.)
6. Kabugkabug ES (80 pcs.)
7. Lower Taviran ES (80 pcs.)
8. Ma’ahad Al-uthmani Al Arabie Al-Islamie (80 pcs.)
9. Madrasah Shariff Awliya Al-Islamie, Inc. (80 pcs.)
10. Madrasatul Al-Shallawe (80 pcs.)
11. Ma’had Ganta Religious Academy (80 pcs.)
12. Marogong Central ES (90 pcs.)
13. Mauyag C. Papandayan NHS (80 pcs.)
14. Tugaya NHS (80 pcs.)
15. Unda Memorial National Agricultural School (400 pcs.)
Iqbal’s MBHTE has been providing educational equipment and tools to the Bangsamoro region’s schools, including Personal Computers (PCs), laptopss, tablets, printers, PC monitors, Faxes, Electric Fans, Clocks, Maps, among others.
The MBHTE chief said in the striving for education, “let us own the educational reforms for the good and stability of education in the BARMM. Let us not forget that every step towards education is a step forward to the future.”
Iqbal thanked the MBHTE teaching and non-teaching personnel for their dedication and commitment to advance the Bangsamoro learners’ education. (/)
