NCMF-North Luzon under RD Bai Raihanah Macarimpas Holds 36th Regional Qur’an Reading Competition

BAGUIO CITY, March 7, 2024 (SDN) — Eleven Qur’an readers under the jurisdiction of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-North Luzon are vying here today, Thursday, in the region’s 36th Regional Qur’an Reading Competition (RQRC).

Champions in the six male and five female categories of the Islamic event will represent NCMF-North Luzon, headed by Regional Director Bai Raihanah Sarah T. Macarimpas to the forthcoming annual National Qur’an Reading Competition (NQRC).

NCMF-North Luzon has influence over Muslims living in Regions 1, 2, 3, and Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).

After the smoke of the competition cleared, the 36th RQRC judges declared Maolana Datucali and Anisah Tomimbang the champions in the male and female categories, respectively.

Aside from claiming the honors of representing the NCMF-North Luzon in the competition’s national edition sometime this year, Datucali and Tomimbang also were awarded cash incentives of Php4,000 each.

For the male group, the 1st runner up is Nohaman Monib (Php2,000), 2nd runner up, Samsodin Magdara (Php1,500).

Female bracket, 1st runner up, Norhoda Ra-ali (Php2,000), 2nd runner up, Ummayah Tanggote (Php1,500).

Haji Abdullah “Abel” Macarimpas, former director and head of the Finance and Management Service (FMS) of NCMF Central Office in Quezon City, said that in this cold City of Pines alone, there are more than 10,000 Muslims, majority of them are traders, with some professionals.   • Norhoda Ra-ali — San Pedro Cutud, City of San Fernando, Pampanga
  • Noron Dima — Sta. Maria, Bulacan
  • H. Ummaiyah Tangote — Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija
  • Jahara Damahan Diamla — Sta. Maria, Bulacan
  • Anisah Tomimbang — Santiago City, Isabela
  • Merriam Damahan Mangondacan — Sta. Maria, Bulacan

Male —

  • Nohaman Monib — Baguio City
  • Maolana Datucali — San Jose, Nueva Ecija
  • Samsodin Magdara — Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
  • Abdul Monib Panandigan — Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija
  • Musanif Calauto, Baguio City

Dignitaries from Baguio City, among them, Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong and Rep. Mark O. Go expressed support to the NCMF-North Luzon, as well as Regional Director Khaddafy D. Tanggol, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-CAR).

We have always taken pride in our Baguio City as a diverse, multi-cultural hub that has welcomed residents from all walks of life and backgrounds intobits arms, co-existing beautifully and peacefully alongside our own strong Cordilleran cultural heritage.
