COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education’s (MBHTE) Directorate General for Madaris Education (DGME), held on April 4, a Learning Development (LD) – Learning Resources (LR) program at Em Manor Hotel in this city.

Headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, the MBHTE is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

On the other hand, Director General Tahir Guiamel-Gandawali Nalg heads the MBHTE-DGME.

With support from the Australian Government through the Education Pathways to Peace in Mindanao (EPPM), the training ensured that all members of the MBHTE LD-LR team were equipped with knowledge and proficiency to navigate the LD-LR system seamlessly.

The Learning Delivery Information System (LDIS) and the Learning Resources Management and Development System (LRMDS) guidelines are expected to help in developing teachers’ professional needs.

During the activity, the Pathways also provided 31 laptops and 16 printers. Two laptops each for Basic Education and for DGME, two laptops and one printer for each of the 11 school divisions, and one laptop and printer for each of the chosen five private Madaris.

As the MBHTE continues to utilize ICT tools and equipment, such initiative from partner stakeholders underscores unwavering dedication and partnership in ensuring inclusive and accessible education for all learners.

From https://www.dfat.gov.au/ here’s what EPPM is:

It is supporting the delivery and improvements to the quality early grades education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), a newly constituted self-governing region in southern Philippines. Pathways is a AUD90 million investment designed to be implemented over nine years (2017 to 2026).”

Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.
