COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) continued to pay attention and address the needs  of “moret” (students) in Islamic schools called “madaris” (singular: madrasah).

Education Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal’s Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) has the work cut out for it and, in all purposes, doing its best to implement its mandate on madaris education.

Thus, on Thursday, April 25, the MBHTE, one of the primary ministries of the Bangsamoro government, broke ground for the construction of two Madaris Educational Learning Center (MELC), or Tahfiz, for men and women at Biniruan, Poblacion 9, in the city.

Funds for the two buildings amounted to Php90 million to be subsidized under the 2019 Special Development Fund (SDF).

The learning centers shall represent the commitment of the Ministry to the preservation and transmission of Islamic knowledge and traditions.

Rooted in the memorization and recitation of the Qur’an, Tahfiz education plays a vital role in nurturing spiritual growth and fostering a strong connection to the teachings of Islam.

Meanwhile, the MBHTE invited all School Heads, STEM Teachers, and Club Advisers from Public and Private Elementary and Secondary Schools to join the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) Facebook Community.

And participate in their engaging learning sessions and fun activities designed to enrich one’s professional development.
