‘UTOL’ Joins Transport Network Company Industry as Gov’t’s Jeepney Phaseout Gets Underway

MANILA HOTEL, Rizal Park, Manila, April 30, 2024 (SDN) — Amid the government-planned phaseout of the iconic but smoke-belching jeepneys, a new transport group today will see the light of day.

An invitation sent to SDN – SciTrlech & Digital News showed the name of the group is UTOL, which stands for United Transport Operations League.

According to the email invite, UTOL (Pilipino colloquial for brother in English) is “the newest player in the Transportation Network Company (TNC) industry.”

A 100 percent Filipino-owned and -operated company, UTOL and its organizers are set to discuss their “Objectives, Mission, and Vision, highlighting its advantages and special features, with the aim of providing a better service to the riding public.”

As its invitation-only, media-driven introduction to the public goes full swing, UTOL will also unveil is new “app” which a Filipino team of IT experts developed for the riding public will also be presented with a demonstration for the media and those invited to press launch here at the historic and landmark Manila Hotel. — EDD K.
