The Mandaluyong City Government, led by Mayor Benjamin “Ben” S. Abalos, Sr. has joined the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2024 by helping clean and repair public schools in the city.
The kick-off ceremony in the local government unit (LGU) of Mandaluyong City was held on July 23 at Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales (MPNAG) in Barangay Mauway. It was led by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, Congressman Boyet Gonzales, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Procopio Lipana.
DepEd-NCR Regional Director Jocelyn Andaya, MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Angelo Vargas, city councilors, Schools Division Office (SDO) Superintendent Romela Cruz, other SDO-Mandaluyong officials, and parents also participated in the event.
Abalos showed to Angara and other government officials the ongoing painting and cleaning of classrooms at MPNAG by beneficiaries of the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
Brigada Eskwela is a DepEd program that started in 2003 where national agencies, local governments, and communities across the country work together to maintain the order, cleanliness, and readiness of public schools for the opening of classes each year. (/)
