COTABATO CITY — Upon an official invitation from the OIC through its Secretary-General, His Excellency Hissein Brahim Taha, MILF Chairman Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim participated in the 50th session of the OIC Council for Foreign Ministers in Yaoundé, Republic of Cameroon on 25-26 Safar 1446/29-30 August 2024.
The session was held with the theme: “Developing transport and communications infrastructure within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: a key tool in combating poverty and insecurity”.
Delegations from the OIC’s 57 member states and participants from around the world, including the MILF-led Ebrahim, attended with the aim of developing innovative solutions and highlighting the vital role of international relations in building a more peaceful and prosperous world.
H.E. Taha emphasized in his opening remarks how the situation in Palestine remains a critical concern, requiring immediate international attention and intervention, and stressed the OIC’s role in supporting Palestinian resilience and defending their legitimate rights.
He added that the OIC will continue its efforts to defend the interests of Muslim groups and communities in non-member states.

MILF Chairman Ebrahim, in his participation in the OIC session, carried with him the strong and unwavering representation of the Bangsamoro in engaging member states of the OIC on matters affecting the Muslims in the Philippines. He was warmly received by representatives from OIC member-states and shared the status of the GPH-MILF Peace Process, including the progress of the Bangsamoro Government where he serves as interim Chief Minister.
Other members of the MILF delegation joining Chairman Ebrahim were: Ustadz Said Z. Salendab, a member of the MILF Central Committee; Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MILF Peace Panel Secretariat; Hamsur Mama; and Sittie Ebrahim.
The MILF commit to the faithful implementation of the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) to showcase how cooperation, sincerity, and trust-building can strengthen the bonds of unity and solidarity between governments and nations through peace processes. (♧)
