MBHTE Holds Contract Signing for Student Benefiaries of TDIF Cash Assistance

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) held today, August 28, at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC) in Cotabato City, a ceremonial contract signing for the 2023 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) one-time cash assistance to selected college and postgraduate student beneficiaries in the region.

A total of 106 beneficiaries were recipients of the Php60,000.00 assistance for the School Year (SY) 2023 -2024.

The provision of this assistance was a joint initiative by Members of Parliament (MPs) Jaafar Apollo Mikhail Matalam, Lanang T. Ali Jr., Randolph Parcasio, and Mohagher Iqbal.

The MPs underscored the transformative power of education and the crucial role of the TDIF cash assistance program in alleviating financial burdens and breaking the cycle of poverty. This support enables students to concentrate on their studies without financial stress.

Minister Iqbal emphasized the significant investment made in education, stating that Bangsamoro Government and the MPs put so much money to elevate education and reinforcing that this assistance is a vital step towards achieving their dreams and fostering a brighter future for the entire community.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the 63 SGA villages that voted “yes” in a plebiscite in January and February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

The BARMM population per the Philippine Atlas has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
