PASAY CITY — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has ordered the recall of Labor Attaché Macy Monique Maglanque, currently assigned in Los Angeles, United States, to allow her to face an investigation following her mention in a privilege speech by Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chair Senator Panfilo “Ping”Lacson.

In his speech, Senator Lacson alleged Maglanque’s connection to MBB Global Properties, a company reportedly linked to controversies in flood control projects. While no sanction has been imposed, the DMW stressed its commitment to accountability and transparency, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Executive Order No. 94, which upholds honesty, integrity, good governance, and accountability in public service.

(Translation: Today, we already issued a recall order for Labor Attaché Maglanque so she can come home and personally face the investigation. There’s no punishment yet but it’s important that she herself face questions — not only DMW but other investigations that are required. Because she was named in a privilege speech by the Blue Ribbon Committee chair, it’s our duty to abide by the process and the President’s order to let officials being alleged to have committed wrongdoing or illegal act.)

Secretary Cacdac clarified that the recall is a procedural step to allow Maglanque to respond to the allegations in the Philippines. He emphasized that the DMW respects due process and will fully cooperate with any official inquiry.

(Translation: She will just face the investigation. It’s part of our stand for the integrity and accountability of public service.)

The DMW assured the public that it will continue to enforce strict measures to safeguard integrity within its ranks and protect the trust and welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). (/)
