BAGUIO CITY — The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) – North Luzon Regional Office actively participated in the Fun Walk conducted in observance of the World Day Against Child Labor on June 11, 2026, here in the Pine City of the North.
Organized by the Department of Labor and Employment – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR), it was led by Regional Director Imelda E. Romanillos, CESO IV, and Assistant Regional Director Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson.
Anchored on the theme “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-Samang Pagkilos Para sa Batang Malaya,” the event brought together representatives from various government agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), labor groups, and private sector partners, the Regional Council Against Child Labor (RCACL), Regional Child Labor Committee (RCC), Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC), and World Vision Philippines.
The activity aimed to raise public awareness, strengthen advocacy efforts, and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the campaign to eliminate child labor in the Philippines.
As part of its commitment to promoting social welfare and protecting vulnerable sectors, the NCMF-North Luzon Regional Office under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Raihanah Sarah T. Macarimpas joined fellow participants in the Fun Walk from Upper Session Road to the Melvin Jones Grandstand. Through its participation, the Commission demonstrated solidarity with national and local initiatives that uphold the rights, dignity, and well-being of children and support efforts to eradicate child labor and exploitation.
The event served as a platform for strengthening partnerships and encouraging collective action among government agencies and organizations dedicated to child protection. It also highlighted the importance of community involvement and inter-agency cooperation in ensuring that children are provided with safe environments, access to education, and opportunities for holistic development.
Concluding the event was a ceremonial hand-print signing on the Pledge of Commitment, where participants expressed their support for the protection of children’s rights and their commitment to preventing unjust labor practices. This symbolic act reinforced the region’s support for the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPACL) and aligned with the principles of ILO Convention No. 190, which advocates for protection against physical, psychological, sexual, and economic violence and harassment.
Through its active participation in this meaningful observance, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos – North Luzon Regional Office reaffirmed its commitment to advancing child welfare, promoting social justice, and supporting collaborative efforts toward building a child labor-free society.
