No sighting of Hilal or New Moon
“The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), as the Government agency tasked in providing accurate information in relation to the affairs of Muslim Filipinos, announces that all Moon-sighting Committees nationwide, including the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta (House of Opinion), have all reported of NOT SIGHTING (on June 3) the New Moon (Hilal) for the 1st day of Shawwal 1440 AH (Anno Hegirah).
“As such, and as declared by the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta, it is hereby officially declared that the 1440 AH Eid’l Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2019

NCMF-Bureau of External Relations (BER) Director Dr. Dimapuno A. Datu-Ramos, Jr. posted the announcement on his Facebook page at 8:35 p.m. on June 3 after a nationwide moon-sighting activity reported no sighting of the New Crescent Moon (Hilal) of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar (Hegirah). The month of Ramadan is ninth in the Hegirah.
Earlier, President Rodrigo R. Duterte, on the recommendation of the NCMF, proclaimed June 5, 2019 (a Wednesday) as Eid’l Fitr National Holiday, for the post-Ramadan celebration. (SDN)
